He was born Michael Joseph Jackson on August 29, 1958, in Indiana, USA. Michael was an American singer, songwriter and dancer. Christened the ‘king of pop’, he was one of the most popular entertainers the world has ever known. He would have been 60 years old today.
The eighth child of the Jackson family, he made his professional debut early his career around 1964 with his brothers. They were known as the Jackson 5.
After showing huge potentials with his brothers and touring with them Michael began his solo career in 1971 and by 1978, he met the legendary producer, Quincy Jones and together they worked on his first album ‘Off The Wall’.
In the 1980s, he created his signature ‘Moonwalk’ move, which he debuted on stage in 1983 while performing ‘Billy Jean’. He also showcased it in the video of his song ‘Beat It’.
With a career full of milestone achievements, filled with numerous awards, Jackson in 2001 celebrated three decades of his solo career with a two-day show at Madison Square Garden where he performed with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.
