Show started like 45 minutes late which is pretty fair compared to all the other shows this year. (Although I saw on their IG that the opener was billed to perform by 6:30,which makes them 15 minutes late-ish, doesn’t excuse that they wrote show starts by 6 pm though).
It was opened by Tetta and her performance wasn’t bad although it could have used more fire for an opening act.
One gospel singer guy took to the stage (didn’t catch his name properly, I think Phrance?)
Maka performed right after and I found her Lagos rendition particularly spellbinding. She reminds me of Asa and I hope that she gets to perform at her concert next year.
Johnny Drille’s performances were so tooth decaying sugar sweet and romantic, I thought he was Nigeria’s John Legend and I daresay, he’ll pull his weight in a battle with JL. He had us awwwww-ing to his love encounters and lyrics all throughout.
Keline brought high energy to the show and charged us all up, could be the dance moves or the delectable butt shaking dancers but she delivered really well and I loved the way she switched from songs, pitches and other live music kinikan with so much flair. Her slow rendition of Olamide’s Wobe was a delight to sing along to.
Aramide was awesome as usual. I’d seen her perform at this year’s Aké festival and I really enjoyed watching her perform again.
The moment we’d all been waiting for arrived, Bez came, Bez performed and bez was simply wonderful. We all stood up to dance, scream and just vibe. He saluted his mom who showed us all how to properly get down (Momma can step yo).
Gotta give a thousand thumbs up to Bez’s guitarist who more than thrice took us on his own magical journey.
What I loved most about Bez Live was that it was a proper live show, each performer came with their bands and backup singers (Not all had backups though), and they could all fricken sing.
I loved the ambience, I loved that there were so many food, drinks and chew-able options.
I loved that we had a small break to walk around and make new friends and this short recap would be incomplete without the fun challenges, there were the kiss, dance and pose challenges where the camera focused on a couple and they had to do whatever instruction was written on the screen, I totally screamed my heart out in joy at the couples that kissed. It was a moment of bliss.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and worth every kobo of my #5,000. I so can’t wait for #BezLive2018
