President Muhammadu Buhari has taken the oath of office today, May 29 at Eagles Square Abuja for the commencement of his second tenure as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The President was sworn into office earlier today by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammed after an eventful military parade which ushered in the President, Vice President, service chiefs, and the CJN.
President Buhari who was first inaugurated as the President of Nigeria on May 29, 2015, was reelected for a second term after he won the recently concluded general election by defeating his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
With the concluded inauguration today, President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo are expected to be in office for the next four years.
He’s the fourth president since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999, and the second president to hold the position for two terms.
