Odion Ighalo beats Victor Osimhen, Obafemi Martins, others to clinch Goal’s Nigeria Player of the Year award

Coming from an impressive run which has seen him emerge one of the top scorers in the EPL, Watford striker, Odion Ighalo has won the 2015 Goal Nigeria Player of the Year award.

Odion saw off competition from Portland Timbers’ Fanendo Adi to clinch the award which has previously been won by the likes of Mikel Obi and Vincent Enyeama.

According to Goal, Odion got a percentage of 30.5 of the votes cast while Fanendo Adi got 28.6 percent of the votes.

Victor Osimhen came a distant 3rd while Obafemi Martins emerged in the 4th position.

The Watford striker was presented with his award in England during the week and he appreciated the fans, team-mates and coaches for believing in him.

‘First, I thank God for the great achievement and all that and I’m very happy to have won the Goal Nigeria Player of the Year award. It’s a great achievement for me in my career and my life’, Ighalo further said.
