Revelations have emerged that Super Eagles striker, Obafemi Martins will be earning a whooping $6.6 million (about N1.6 billion) per year at his new Chinese club, Shanghai Shenua.
The 31-year-old in-form player, according to Steven Goff of Washington Post, will be pocketing over N1.6 billion yearly, which is double what he was earning in the American Major League Soccer side, Seattle Sounders.
This Lagos-born striker was the highest paid African Player in the MLS, earning $3 million per annum. He also justified his pay with 40 goals and 23 assists in 3 seasons.
Obafemi Martins has in his rich career has played for top clubs including Inter Milan (Italy), Newcastle United (England) and VFL Wolfsburg (Germany).
He is expected to make his Chinese debut on March 5 when the Super League season opens.
