It’s taken a few months but finally, Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede is confirming what fans have since suspected: she and her rapper husband Abounce are no longer a couple.
Two weeks ago, NET revealed that the actress who’s nursing her four-month-old son Xavier had removed Abounce’s surname, Fawole from her Instagram bio. As it was the case with fellow actresses Mercy Aigbe and Lillian Esoro, erasing the surname appeared to be concrete evidence that there was more than what met the eye.
Yvonne Jegede is quoted in Pulse as saying the marriage was over only about three months after she got pregnant.“We started having issues before the birth of Xavier. I think I was about two to three months pregnant when the issues came. Immediately the issues came, there was never a dull moment, it just kept going up and up and it got worse and it got bad and today here we are. Right now, we are not living together, and we are not living as husband and wife, we are not husband and wife anymore and I would say a mutual agreement to go our separate ways. It didn’t work out, it wasn’t working out.”
It’s a sad end to the marriage that saw many fans root for them, having dated for ten years before their traditional wedding in 2017.
Abounce, real name Kunle Fawole, is the son of late film and theatre icon, Bukky Ajayi who passed away in 2016. He is also a rapper who was part of OJB’s ensemble. Incidentally, OJB’s burial was a day after his mother’s.
Yvonne Jegede is a Nollywood favourite who has starred in dozens of movies, including Okafor’s Law, The Gold Statue, 10 Days In Sun City.
