In a recent chat with Victor Okpala on the “Music Corner” at the just concluded Nigerian Entertainment Conference, singer Aramide spoke about being underrated and learning to keep her head in the game regardless.
“I think its a popularity thing. Sometimes if you’re not as popular, people say you don’t know how to sing. But for people that take their time to listen to your music, some people appreciate. But at the end of the day, not everybody will like you”, she explained.
Aramide is one of the most consistent voices in the Nigerian alternative genre but she hasn’t particularly enjoyed due honours. In a recent event, the singer was a victim of misogyny as perpetrated by an Instagram comedian known as Ebiye.
Reacting to her win in the just-concluded Headies award, Ebiye insinuated that Aramide’s victory was only possible because she offered sexual favours. “She prolly f**ked for the award”, Ebiye declared.
