Nigerian alternative (folk) singer; Johnny Drille recently made a stop at NET TV for an exclusive interview with Victor Okpala that saw him talk about his journey so far, his Headies award nominations, his affiliation with Mavin Records and the subject of tithing which has been a controversial discourse in recent time.
According to the singer who has a very deep spiritual foundation partly as a result of his parents being pastors, the decision to tithe is personal. “I am a Christian, and I believe in the bible, of course, 10% of your income… nobody is forcing anybody to. If you don’t want to give, it’s left for you but we believe because it’s what our faith says we should do – what the bible says we should do, so we do it”.
He continued; “We don’t do it because people say we should or shouldn’t. At the end of the day, it’s our money, it’s our income. If you want to give a hundred percent to God, it’s our own choices. I’m a Christian, I believe the word of God and I’m all for tithing”, he ended.
