Nigeria’s D’Tigress have progressed to the quarter-final qualification stage of the 2018 FIBA Basketball Women’s World Cup in Tenerife Spain, courtesy of a 75 – 70 win over Argentina in the final group stage match of the ongoing tournament.

Argentina ranked no 15 in the world came into the encounter on the end of a back to back defeat in the hands of Australia and Turkey and was hoping to get a win against Nigeria to keep their qualification hopes alive.

With the win against Argentina, Nigeria becomes the first African team in history to win two games in a single FIBA Basketball Women’s World Cup.

Top performers for the D’Tigress include Promise Amakamara with 16 points, Aisha Mohammed and Ezinne Kalu with 12 points respectively while Melisa Paolo Gretter was the most prolific player of the day netting 21 points for the Albiceleste.
