Mixed reactions are trailing the decision of the Federal Government to ban the consumption of local gin popularly known as ‘Ogogoro’, following reports of deaths of a number of Nigerians due to its consumption.
The DG of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control NAFDAC, Paul Orhii announced the ban on Monday, June 8, 2015, adding that not less than 38 persons have died from the consumption of contaminated local gin in Ode Irele, Ondo State and Rivers State recently.
Trust Nigerians to make their views known on such a topic, ‘Ogororo’ is now a trending topic in Nigeria across different social media platforms.
