As another celebration of legendary Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti gets underway, several creative expressions are on display to make it a colourful event.
The annual event which is never short of frills and thrills is getting a gloss this year, courtesy of a Nigerian artist who is reawakening Abami Eda‘s revolutionary spirit with his works.

Abolore Sobayo is telling Fela’s story with a captivating art exhibition tagged Echoes, which will feature over a hundred masks of Fela in diverse colours.
The exhibition draws from Fela’s wardrobe style and fashion preferences, while the paintings on display will represent Fela’s story, heritage and legacy.
During the week-long exhibition, which will take take place at TerraKulture, Abolore hopes to recreate some of the styles of Fela’s outfit into modern day wears – using batik, embroidery, and unique African motives to propagate his stunning designs.
The 2016 Felabration kicked off in Lagos on October 10 and will end on October 16.
