Neymar Jr. is very eager to be back in the La Liga that he is willing to take an almost 40% cut in his pay-check just to be back at Camp Nou.
According to SPORT, Neymar Jr. did not even negotiate the cut in his pay because he was sure that it was the maximum pay that Barcelona was going to give him and has given a verbal agreement to the deal. At this point, Neymar’s deal is dependent mostly on the two clubs, PSG where he is leaving and Barcelona where he intends to move to.
In his agreement, he agreed to spend the next 5 years with Barcelona. The pay cut will mean that he will no longer be the second-highest paid footballer in the world next to Messi. He will be giving up his €30.6952 million pay in Paris Saint Germaine for around €24million in Barcelona.
He doesn’t seem to be bothered by this reduction as he has said that all he wants to do now is restore his name amongst the best in the game. Although the 27-year old has other offers, he prefers to be signed by Barcelona.
However, a large majority of fans believe that he only wants to leave PSG because Mbappe has outshone him there. This may not be far fetched as this was the reason he initially left Barcelona, because he did not want to be in Messi’s shadow.
Neymar drastically wants to feel some joy again while playing that he has agreed to drop a lawsuit he had against Barcelona before he left. The case was over €26m commissions his representatives felt they were owed for his contract renewal but Neymar is happy to drop the suit if it helps his transition.
