It is impossible to speak about the diversity that currently exists in the Nigerian music industry without according honours to singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Odunsi The Engine.
Odunsi made his way to mainstream discourse as part of the league of young defiant musicians whose sounds are unabashedly antonymous to what’s musically in-demand and popular (Afropop). Alte is how they are simply categorized; implying that they are an alternative to popular music.
Positioned as the effective leader of the nascent genre, Odunsi The Engine has been on a laudable roll; so much that one can almost forget that the singer has been around for barely two years only. From landing a spot on Spotify’s Viral 50, featuring on Billboard’s playlist, serving inspiration for M.I Abaga’s 2018 projects; Rendezvous and Yung Denzl to dropping three comprehensive projects: Time Of Our Lives, War EP and his recently-released star-studded debut album, Rare, the singer has been on a very-well-deserved meteoric rise.
To crown is 2018 run, the erstwhile new-comer will be headlining a show (his first show) in Lagos this December. Odunsi made the announcement via Instagram. “So glad to announce my first headline show in my home city. december 24th we are celebrating all the moments and all the music on the journey so far. christmas eve is going to be special. more details on the show will be shared soon. can’t wait to see you guys”, His post captioned.
The event which will be taking place at Hard Rock Cafe will see him perform according to him, all the songs on his Rare album.
