Each arrival at the Lekki home of Funke Bucknor-Obruthe– elder sister to the recently deceased Tosyn Bucknor whose death on Monday night shocked millions of her fans across the country- was marked with long faces as they paused to write their tributes in a condolence register opened at the residence visited by NET on Wednesday morning.
Receiving visitors was Funke who bore her grief bravely as she consoled a number of people who broke into tears intermittently.
“I don’t want you all to cry”, she was heard saying to a friend of Tosyn’s who struggled to hold back tears. “In fact, I want you to go ahead and do the photoshoot you all scheduled for Friday without Tosyn and I . Don’t forget she would have wanted it.”
As she stopped by to have a few words with our reporter, she expressed in no uncertain terms that she has felt this kind pain before, not even when their father died only a year ago.
“I did not cry when my father died, but Tosyn was more than my sister. She was a mirror for me to see the world. My comforter, my confidant and my friend. God knows why he had to take her at this time, but I am glad she lived the life she pictured for herself“.
Their mother sat in silence at the other area of the sitting room, looking wordlessly as people gathered around her to express their condolences. Although she didn’t cry, the pain in her eyes was clear for all to see as she endured the pain of losing her youngest child.
Funke had nothing but gratitude for all the outpouring the Bucknor family has received since the news of Tosyn’s death broke yesterday morning.
“This street was inaccessible yesterday. In less than an hour after people got to hear the news, a huge crowd had besieged our house as many of her fans and friends couldn’t believe the news that was filtering in.” Funke Bucknor-Obruthe told NET, adding that “several actors, media Personalities, musicians, photographers and many other people whose lives were touched by Tosyn thronged to this place to pay tributes to her”.
At the time of filing this report, more people were still arriving at the house, which required a tent to accommodate the grieving well-wishers.
The family however was quiet on burial plans for the 37 year old Tosyn as they still are processing that her voice will never be heard again. We gather that her husband, French national Aurélien Boyer is grieving away from the Victoria Island apartment the couple lived him during their three year marriage, his pain exacerbated by the fact that it was he who discovered her lifeless body on his return from work on Monday night.
May Tosyn’s gentle soul rest in Peace
