Yesterday it was reported that Destinys Child singer, Michelle Williams voluntarily checked her self in a mental health facility to seek treatment for depression. She confirmed the reports via a tweet where she expressed her thoughts on mental health and the importance of seeking help.



Michelle Williams had been a part of the R&B girl music group Destiny Child  with Beyonce and Kelly Rowland. Though they had separated in 2005, the trio reunited this year at Coachella in April.

Here’s a list of six other celebrities that have struggled with depression

Kanye West

The American rapper who’s married to reality TV personality, Kim Kardashian was hospitalized for depression and paranoia back in November 2016.


Mariah Carey

In April 2018, Mariah Carey was disclosed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a condition she had been dealing with since 2001.




Gucci Mane

In 2011, the rapper was committed to a mental health facility after his lawyers stated that he could not intelligently face his probation hearing. He would later go on to serve three years before cleaning up and starting off his new life.


Kid Cudi

Years after he got famous for his emotional songs such as ‘In Pursuit Of Happiness’, Kid Cudi’s mental breakdown and suicidal thoughts became a topic of discussion among younger fans and entertainers.


Halle Berry

In 2013, the Oscar-winning actress told reporters that she had been suffering from depression for thirty years and has been in therapy ever since.




Azelia Banks 

Apart from Azelia’s self-description as a troll, her struggles with mental health is well known. She was ordered by a court to attend anger management classes after a feud with fellow rapper Remy Ma.
