By the time today is over, the body of departed media personality Tosyn Bucknor would have been committed to mother earth. On Wednesday evening, her obsequies began with a service of songs that was attended by several of her friends, colleagues and associates.
The funeral service is underway at the church she attended during her life time, Harvesters International Christian Centre. The church is pastored by Pastor Bolaji Idowu, an alumnus of the University of Lagos- same as Tosyn Bucknor.
At the night of tributes held in honour, Pastor Bolaji shared what happened to be the last conversation they both had and revealed that the phone call took two hours, at it seemed she had a premonition of her death.

“Looking back it was as if she was just telling me ‘Just in case…when that day comes, you’ll know what to say,” he said. “The conversation we had that Saturday before she passed on Monday was the longest we’ve ever had…One of the difficult things as a pastor is to do this [conduct a funeral]…”
The 38 year old clergyman leads one of Lagos’ fastest growing church which attracts thousands of young people in Nigeria by virtue of its seeming ease of worship. At the two branches of the church in Gbagada and Lekki, there are various programmes held throughout the year targeted at real life issues that affect young people. Some of its initiatives are a skill acquisition programme as well as a month dedicated to mental health.
Pastor B as he’s fondly called by his congregants, started his ministry while he was studying Accounting at UNILAG. His ministry is influnced by another popular pastor, Pastor Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre. His liberal approach to Christianity has proven to be fertile ground for young people who do not necessarily conform to the conservative method of yesteryears but encourages them to worship God as they are, while developing skills with which to live in the 21st century.
A funeral service is underway at the church in Lekki at the moment and will be followed by a private internment which he will oversee.
