Over three decades of active performance in Fuji music and still not relegated to the background by the new breeds, King Wasiu Ayinde better known as Kwam 1 is not a talent to come by every day. When it comes to Fuji music K1 is a leader by kilometers.
Not even his five months on the hospital bed distracted the King of Fuji music as he is fondly called from his goals to release his 18-tracker 3-in-one album titled ‘Instinct’ – the album which reportedly sold 1 million copies upon its release on December 24, 2010.
‘I give God the glory for giving me the grace for such a release after five years of flavors of which I was ill for five months’, an excited K1 expressed.
Formerly known as Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall the 1st and later K1 de ultimate; he is regarded as the pioneer of contemporary Fuji music. Taking a cue from late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister (his former boss).
He embraced Fuji music at an early age, understanding the elements and creating a style that would stand him out. And with his first major hit ‘Talazo ‘84’, it became clear he was the anointed one to take the genre into the future.
He soon introduced modern musical instruments, thus cultivating the followership of a young, hip audience, as well as inspiring a generation of Fuji musicians who have all established thriving careers for themselves.
