Kim Kardashian has finally caved in to criticisms following the backlash she received from naming her shapewear brand Kimono. Many people had come after the reality TV star for what they called disrespectful appropriation of the Japanese culture after she announced the release of the product last week.
Although Kardashian had initially defended her right to use the name and refused to change it, she finally softened her stance on Tuesday by revealing that she has decided to listen to her fans and the public, and has changed the name of the brand.
“When I announced the name of my shapewear line, I did so with the best intentions in mind. My brands and products are built with inclusivity and diversity at their core and after careful thought and consideration, I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name,” she stated.
She went on to say she would be announcing a new name in due course.
