Couples this valentine will get a peculiar gift from the Kenyan government in the form of free studded condoms.
The move to hand couples free ‘rubber’ on the day is one which the National Aids Control Council has termed as ‘Pleasure with Prevention’.

According to the Head National AIDS and STI control Programme, Martin Sirengo, studded condoms will be distributed alongside ordinary ones for the simple fact that they enhance the experience between lovers.
He also cited the importance of safety even during Valentine’s, from STIs and unwanted pregnancies.

‘The new studded condoms are free. You don’t have to spend anything in comparison to the studded condoms in private companies. We also want people to be protected as they have pleasure,’ Sirengo was quoted.
