Last night, the 38th edition of the prestigious BRIT Awards held at the 02 Arena in London. Amongst other exciting activities, here are the highlights from the event.

After treating fans to exciting performances at the MTV EMA’s and Grammy Awards, Kendrick Lamar continued with his streak of memorable stage moments at the BRIT Awards.  The rapper offered a compelling rendition of two singles; FEEL and New Freezer with a screen reading “This Is Another Satire by Kendrick Lamar.”

Lamar rapped atop a giant glass box containing a sports car during the entire performance, and things took a turn when he began “New Freezer.” Rich The Kid, his collaborator on the song, appeared inside the box and started smashing the vehicle with a bat. It’s as strange as it sounds.

Grime artiste Stormzy generated one of the show’s biggest upsets after beating British pop star Ed Sheeran in the best album category.

Ed Sheeran’s widely acclaimed Divide album was nominated along with Stormzy’s debut “Gang Signs & Prayer’s” album and other solid projects but to the shock of many, Ed Sheeran lost to Stormzy.

Ed Sheeran, however, snagged the award for Brits Global Success Award.

South London grime superstar Stormzy was the man of the night. Not only did he beat Ed Sheeran in the Best Album Category, he also won in the British Male category and delivered a politically charged performance.
