Jay Z has joined the list of top celebrities who have come out to defend detained rapper 21 Savage after he was arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after they discovered he’s a British citizen living in the US illegally.
According to TMZ, Jay Z described Savage’s arrest and detention as “an absolute travesty” and points out that his US Visa application has been pending for years.

Jay Z said: “In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately.”
It was also confirmed that Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation has responded to what it calls a “matter of injustice” by hiring attorney Alex Spiro to take on Savage’s case.
Spiro told TMZ, “We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge … What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years – not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offence which was vacated and sealed.”
TMZ also reports that the detained rapper actually had a visa permit pending for four years before he reapplied for his US Visa in 2017, claiming this must have tipped the authorities to do a background check that discovered his visa was expired before the arrest.
