The Nigerian Entertainment Conference was officially declared opened by the Director General of the Nigerian Economic Summit and a former Minister of Information, in the person of Frank Nweke Jr.
Nweke in his keynote speech addressed the role that entertainment plays in the development of a culture. ‘Entertainment serves as a constant reminder of who we are, where we are going and where we are destined to be’, he said.
He also applauded the fact that the Nigerian entertainment industry has been able to make a mark globally despite the looming challenges. ‘Considering the lack of structure and support, it is a miracle that we have an entertainment industry’.
Lastly, in his speech, Nweke encouraged artistes to take their arts more seriously by improving on the creativity and investing wisely in their future and the future of the industry.
