The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared May 29, work-free day to commemorate the presidential inauguration.
Georgina Ehuriah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior made the announcement in a statement on Monday on behalf of the Minister, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau.
Dambazau congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election and wished the president a memorable inauguration day.
May 29 was formerly known as Nigeria’s Democracy day, until President Muhammadu Buhari recently declared June 12 as the country’s new Democracy Day in posthumous recognition of June 12, 1993, election won by Chief MKO Abiola.
Wednesday, May 29 will still remain a public holiday this year to the delight of various Nigerians, courtesy of the official presidential inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
