Ali Baba whose real name is Alleluya Akporobomere is an accomplished comedian who has been on top of his game for many years. Widely called the King of comedy, he turned 50 on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 and celebrated the Golden jubilee anniversary with a fancy birthday soiree along with a brand new Mercedes Benz S500 gift from his wife, Mary.
Despite being Nigeria’s leading comedian for several years, Ali Baba insists he doesn’t see other comedians as a threat. While responding to a question in a recent interview with Punch, the Delta State-born comedian said he even helps many of the younger comedians out with comedy materials.
‘Why should I be threatened by them? how would I be giving them jokes? If I were, I won’t give them my jokes, and I would tell them not to use my jokes. I make jokes and give to some of them. So, there is nothing like being threatened by them. The bottom line is that the day you begin to feel threatened by some other up-and-coming comedians, then you are on your way out. You’re supposed to be somebody they look up to, not somebody they compete with.’
