Last Friday, May 27, 2016, Joseph Yobo marked his retirement from football with a testimonial match in Rivers State.

Held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, the match brought together former international football stars like Samuel Eto’o, Austin ‘Jay jay’ Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Sulley Muntari, Stephen Appiah, Ahmed Musa, Efe Ambrose, Vincent Enyeama, Ike Shorunmu, Augustine Eguavoen, Joel Obi, Samson Siasia and coach Amodu Shu’aibu.
Ex-Manchester United manager and Yobo’s former coach at Everton, David Moyes, Emmanuel Emenike, Waidi Akanni, Sani Kaita, Trésor Lomana LuaLua, Danny Shittu and Club Proprietor, Ifeanyi Ubah among others were also on ground to celebrate with him.
Nollywood actor, Osita Iheme (Paw Paw) and popular comedian, AY were on hand to add spice to the match while music stars like Humble Smith, Harrysong and Duncan Mighty provided the needed entertainment.

Yobo ended his international football career at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after winning 101 caps to emerge the most capped Super Eagles player.
The Rivers Sate-born ex-international also had an illustrious club football career that saw him play at several European clubs such as Standard Liège, Everton, Olympique Marseille, Fenerbahçe and Norwich City.
