The judge presiding over the case of American rapper, Meek Mill, has refused to reconsider the musician’s 2 to 4 year sentence. The rapper’s legal team had also requested that the judge, Justice Genece E. Brinkley, recuse herself from the case on the grounds of personal bias.
Joe Tacopina, Mill’s lawyer, the judge had once requested that Mill and his former girlfriend, Nicki Minaj, perform a cover of ‘On Bended Knee’ by Boyz II Men as a tribute to her.
Here’s what Brinkley had to say about the lawyer’s claim:
‘This bald allegation has no basis in reality. There is zero evidence to support this claim. The court has repeatedly told Defendant that he cannot demand special treatment just because he has chosen to be an entertainer. [The] defendant received proper notice of all alleged probation violations in advance of his hearing. The sentence imposed was not manifestly excessive and this Court stated sufficient reasons on the record to support a state sentence of 2 to 4 years.’
