I’m sure you’ve heard about the latest survey that places Lagos State as the world’s third most stressful state. The survey conducted by Zipjet considered certain factors such as density, unemployment, physical and mental health, public transport, debt per capita, gender equality and a host of other specific elements.
Yes, its true. Lagos may not always be the easiest place in the world to exist in but that doesn’t make me love Nigeria’s heartbeat any less. Here are five reasons why we love Las Gidi, no matter what.

BRT For Life!
Although public transportation is one of the reasons why Lagos found itself on the not so glamorous ‘stressful’ list, I have to admit that BRT is a step in the right direction. In Nigeria at least, the BRT is the mosy ultra modern and stressless means of public transportation, especially for the common man. Take That, CNN!
2. Our Victorious Island
The amazing architecture and breath taking sights of Lagos Island makes it a national jewel and a tourist-favourite. The gracious Island is one of my favorite things about Lagos because it shows how glorious and majestic things can be when our government and individuals come together.
3. The Great Nigerian Mixing Pot
No other state in Nigeria brings together so many different people from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Lagos has Yoruba speaking Igbos and Pidgin English speaking Chinese; there is always so much to learn and a bunch of new things to experience.
4. Events For Days
There’s always something going on in Las Gidi. If it’s not a concert, it’s a comedy show, if it’s not a comedy show, it’s a fashion show, if it’s not a fashion show, it’s a premiere, if it’s not a premiere, it’s a conference. Mouthful, yeah, but you get the point? If you have the time and money, Lagos has all the vibrant events on lock down. Banky W even sang about it!
5. Land Of Opportunities
Everyone is in Lagos for a reason. The dream and hustle spirit that drives the city is the magnet that draws people to the state. If you work hard enough, you can become the new success story. Yes, it may be stressful now but it won’t always be like that.
