World’s football governing body FIFA has just released the nominees’ list for Men’s Player of the Year award with the winners likely to be announced in London on September 24.
The 10-man shortlist was selected by a Fifa panel of experts, including ex-football stars Ronaldo Nazario and Frank Lampard.
According to the information released by the body, the voting period begins on 24 July and concludes at midnight on 10 August and will be decided by four voting panels made up of media representatives, national team coaches, and national team captains, while the general public is also allowed to vote on the official Fifa website. Each group has 25% of the overall vote.
Brazilian striker Neymar Jr is however surprisingly missing from the list led by Cristiano Ronaldo who won the 2016 and 2017 edition of this award while Lionel Messi and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah also make the shortlist.
