Felabration is an annual music festival conceived in 1998 by Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti in memory and celebration of her father Fela Kuti, a Nigerian musician and human rights activist known for pioneering the Afrobeat genre of music. Felabration festival always coincides with the Legend’s birthday which is October 15.

As part of the celebrations to mark the 80th posthumous birthday of the Nigerian musical icon, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Felabration premium stout drink Legend Extra Stout took 30 of its esteemed consumers on a tour of the Kalakuta Republic Museum.
A lot of things were learned at the museum about the late Fela Kuti, from his personal life to music legacies. Before being turned into a museum, the home used to be a recording studio and commune to the late Legend.
The name ‘Kalakuta’, is an imitation of the prison cell ‘Calcutta’ that Fela inhabited during his time in jail. Fela’s personal effects are displayed in the museum and the grave tomb of the late musician is also located there.
Fela’s mom was his backbone and biggest supporter. The room where he stayed 21 years ago was seen, including his clothing and shoes he designed himself.
#FelabrationWithLegend2018 was nothing short of Legendary and we definitely can not wait to see what next year’s festival has to offer.
