In the last quarter of 2018, singer Danny Young raised an alarm following the release of Tiwa Savage’s Thanksgiving-themed single dubbed One. Young had pointed out that the Tiwa Savage track ripped from his 2009 single, Oju Tiwon without his permission.

His outcry which was followed by a copyright claim led video streaming service, YouTube to take down the official video for Tiwa’s ‘One’ from its platform. The video was, however, restored to YouTube after the platform reportedly found no proof of infringement.
Dissatisfied, Danny Young has proceeded to take the legal route by filing a lawsuit against Tiwa Savage at a Federal High court in Lagos. The suit which is dated February 13, 2019, was shared by Danny on Instagram with the caption; “Tiwa! I know pple love u! Even me🤗 … BUT I still have to sue u bcos u stole my shit! a simple dialogue would av solved this but u prefer it this way. Now we will be in court discussing some 200,000,000 Damages 🤣🤣🤣 ps. Unblock me so I can like your pictures…”

The lawsuit which was filed by one Justice Ige, the principal attorney of Creative Legal posited that Tiwa Savage is required to pay a sum of two hundred million naira (200,000,000) for infringement.
