It has been confirmed that the Nissan Maxima sedan in which the rapper Dagrin had the ill-fated car crash in, that eventually led to his death will be used in the new biopic of the rapper, ‘GHETTO DREAMZ’.
The blue car with the customized number plate ‘Dagrin 03’ has been acquired by the Executive Producer of the movie, Ope Banwo. The Stingomania Entertainment boss says it was necessary for the exact car to be used in the movie so as to create a ‘real life experience’.
Apparently, the condemned car had been sold off to scrap dealers in Owode Oniran area of Mile 12, along Ikorodu road in Lagos. After much negotiations and even an intervention from star actress Rachael Oniga who happens to be playing a role in the movie, our sources say the dealers were persuaded to sell the scrap car for the price of four hundred thousand Naira (N400,000.).
‘Once you decide to do a biopic, there are some things you have to do to create as much realism of the real story as possible. There are some things you should not compromise as a producer if you really believe in doing your best for your audience’, Mr. Banwo explained.
He went on to say the he might donate the car to the National Museum after the movie is completed as the happenings surrounding the late rapper’s demise can be looked upon as a national event.
Dagrin had just acquired the Nissan Maxima a few weeks before the car crash on Wednesday April 14, 2010. He was driving along the Agege Motor road, Mushin, Lagos when he reportedly drove into a stationary truck. He was hospitalized for eight days before passing on on Thursday April 22.
The Dagrin Biopic ‘GHETTO DREAMZ’ which stars budding music act Trybson Dudukoko, AMAA winner, Doris Simeon, Rachael Oniga, Pa Kasumu, Kenny St. Brown, Jaywon, Gabriel Afolayan and fast rising Oyindamola Odesola among others will hit the cinemas in April 2011 as part of the 1st anniversary memorial project in honour of the late rapper.
