Elderly women in Nairobi, Kenya are resorting to martial arts to fight off would be rapists in their slum.
Rape has become something of an epidemic across the country and old women are gradually becoming more threatened than ever as the rapists believe that they are less likely to have the HIV virus.
While policemen chase after the criminals after the crime is done; these women shown in this AJ+ video are learning karate skills that would help them ward off attackers.

55-year-old Jane has in fact fought off a man who tried to rape her once. ‘He touched my neck and I boxed him,’ she said.
Numbering about 20 and including an 85-year-old, the women gather weekly for training. According to the 2014 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey, 14 percent of women aged 15-49 have experienced sexual violence in that country.
