The end seems to have come to one of Nigeria's most admired celebrity couples.
According to the various reports gathered by NET, the former lovers are set to legally dissolve their four-year-old marriage.
Recall that in 2016, The Baloguns were the subject of a very public breakup when TeeBillz had the meltdown that saw him attempt to commit suicide after revealing sordid details of his estranged wife via his Instagram handle. He was stopped by close friend Banky W (who was also his best man at their glamorous Dubai wedding) and a few other associates. In the following days, Tiwa herself gave a tell-all interview where she accused her husband of spousal abuse, cheating and a decade-long addiction to cocaine.
In 2017 however, the two of them who have a toddler together, were said to be trying to reconcile and make things work. TeeBillz who had taken a long break from Instagram since the incident, reappeared and made it a habit to post encouraging photos of his wife. It was reported that he had been to rehab and was confronting his mental demons head-on.
They were also spotted together at a number of events, including a rare onstage display of public affection at AFRIMMA.
However, all that seems to have come to a screeching halt as new reports emerging suggest that the couple may have given up on reconciliation and have finally called it quits.
Like he did in the heat of the 2016 crisis, TeeBillz has taken a break from social media and is said to have quietly relocated back to the United States where he began his career as a music exec- he was formerly known as ‘T Billion’ and his largely considered to have jumpstarted rapper Saucekid’s career. He also has two other children from an earlier relationship who live in that country.
Tiwa Savage, on the other hand, has also moved on with her life. In December 2017, she announced that she had recently bought a home for ‘herself’, suggesting that she was happy to have the place to herself and not necessarily be compelled to be with the father of her child. Instead, she focuses all her attention on her two-year-old son, Jamil. On Valentine’s Day she wrote ‘As long as you keep smiling, everyday will be Valentine for me.’
A family member who spoke to us refused to divulge any information, other than to confirm that TeeBillz had returned to the US. ‘We are all rooting for them’, our source said. ‘But they will be fine! Very very fine…’
The divorce marks the end of one of Nigeria’s most admired couples. Before the marriage, both parties denied that they were dating, only for TeeBillz to propose on Tiwa’s 33rd birthday and embark on what was termed the wedding of the following year.
