President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his lead over Atiku Abubakar after he was declared winner of the presidential poll in Niger State.

Buhari polled a total of 612,371 votes in the state while Atiku polled a total of 218,052 votes.

The total number of registered voters in the state is 2,375,568 while a total of 911,964 voters were accredited.

Total votes cast is 896,976 while the total of valid votes is 851,937.

A total of 45,039 votes were rejected.

After the declaration of election results on Monday Buhari led Atiku with over 280,000 votes in 12 states (including the FCT).

The President has now won 8 out of 13 states (including the FCT) that have been announced so far while the total difference in votes has now increased to about 700,000.

The collation of election results is currently ongoing in Abuja.\
