American Pop Diva, Ciara, has come out to express her appreciation to Mavin and Nigeria’s music diva, Tiwa Savage for inspiring her new record ‘Freak Me’ which she did in collaboration with Nigerian pop star Tekno.
Yesterday, NET exclusively reported that Tiwa Savage was believed to be angry after she discovered that the new Ciara single bore striking semblance to a song of hers ‘Before Nkor’ which was the ninth song off her 2015 ‘Red’ album. Tiwa disappointed was said to be directed at Tekno whom she felt might be responsible or not preventing the unauthorised use of her content.

Though Ciara had listed Tiwa Savage, Don Jazzy and D’Prince who featured on the original record, neither Tiwa or the anyone in Mavin Records was aware of Ciara’s use of their material. Perhaps because of the amount of backlash she received on her page as also did Tekno, Ciara has seen the need to come out publicly to say that she was inspired by the melody of the song when she first heard it in 2015, also calling Tiwa a ‘Beast’.
Shout out to @TiwaSavage on the inspiration and sample used in #FreakMe! She’s a beast! I fell in love with the melody when I first heard it in Africa 3 years ago ❤️💃🏽. So good. #AfroWave

Whether this public display means Tiwa Savage will get her publishing dues or not or her deciding to let this slide in good faith, its left for the Mavin Queen to let us all know.
