Following the controversy sparked off by his opinion about actresses, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji, film maker turned critic, Charles Novia has stated that it was not his intention to attack any of the actresses and asked to be absolved of any blame by their fans.
He wrote on his Twitter page: ‘I do not ‘attack’ personalities; I critique their artistry or lack thereof. That which is public for all to see and none to say mostly.’
He further made clear the importance of his critiques, adding that they are contributions to making the affected individuals better at their craft.
‘For the record, a professional critique is what it is. It takes nothing away from the talents of those critiqued. In fact, it spurs more. Critics are either sugary or acidic or in the middle, depends on the personae. I love the witty critics such as Piers Morgan, Simon Kolawole,’ he wrote.
Until recently, Novia was popular as a movie producer and has a number of movies including Christmas Passion and Alan Poza to his credit.
