Boris Johnson has won the race to be the next United Kingdom Prime Minister, after defeating his opponent, Jeremy Hunt by 45,497 votes. He is the automatic Prime Minister of the country since he won the votes to be the Conservative Party Leader.
Johnson immediately delivered his victory speech, thanking his opponent for being formidable and also Theresa May, saying it was a privilege to serve in her cabinet. Theresa May also tweeted a congratulatory message and offered her support from the “backbenches”.
Many congratulations to @BorisJohnson on being elected leader of @Conservatives – we now need to work together to deliver a Brexit that works for the whole UK and to keep Jeremy Corbyn out of government. You will have my full support from the back benches.

Johnson assured that he was not daunted by the Brexit task placed before him, adding that he will defeat Labor Party leader, Jeremy Corbyn and do just as Theresa said and keep him out of government. He said during his speech that he “will work flat-out from now on with my team that I will build, I hope in the next few days to repay your confidence, but in the meantime, the campaign is over and the work begins.”
Johnson’s No Deal Brexit would mean job cuts, higher prices in the shops, and risk our NHS being sold off to US corporations in a sweetheart deal with Donald Trump.
The people of our country should decide who becomes the Prime Minister in a General Election.

His opponent and leader of the Labor Party, Jeremy Corbyn has said that despite that Johnson has emerged next Prime Minister, he does not have the support of the country. He called for a general election to determine who the next Prime Minister of the nation should be.
Thank you all for the incredible honour you have done me. The time for campaigning is over and the time for work begins to unite our country and party, deliver Brexit and defeat Corbyn. I will work flat out to repay your confidence

Boris Johnson who seems undaunted by the opposition he may be facing just tweeted to thank his party for the honour of being elected.
Congratulations to Boris Johnson on becoming the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He will be great!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 23, 2019
He was also congratulated by President Donald Trump of the United States of America and the first lady, Ivanka Trump on Twitter. Donald and Boris are publicly known as friends so this congratulatory speech from Trump is not surprising. Donald Trump tweeted: “Congratulations to Boris Johnson on becoming the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He will be great!”.
While his wife erroneously tweeted “Congratulations Boris Johnson on becoming the next Prime Minister of the United Kingston.” She has now deleted the tweet which may have made her a butt of jokes on Twitter.
Theresa May is expected to step down on Wednesday and Boris will take over immediately as Prime Minister.
