Ariana Grande may have the number Billboard spot with her single 7 Rings but she will be paying handsomely for sampling the song My Favourite Things from the movie Sound of Music.
According to the New York Times, she will be paying a whopping 90% of all the money made by the single to the estate of the two songwriters Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II who died in 1969 and 1970 respectively.
It is also reported that Arian Grande’s record label Republic Records did not contest when told the high percentage demanded by the estate. As of today, the song which was released in January 2019 has 270 million views on YouTube and has sold over a million copies.
