In case you missed it, last weekend, Nigerian multiple-award-winning international pop star, Wizkid added another laudable achievement to his belt. The Star Boy was on Saturday, October 6th honoured in a US state, Minnesota where he delivered an electrifying performance courtesy of his ongoing Made In Lagos tour.

Signed by Mark Dayton the incumbent governor of the state, October 6th was declared “Wizkid Day” in Minnesota. The Starboy’s performance at the Skye Theatre in Minneapolis-Minnesota was a historic one, as Wizkid became the first African artiste to sellout the nearly two thousand capacity venue.
Below is the text of the Starboy’s proclamation document that has been shared on social media.
“Wizkid was born in Surulere, Nigeria on July 16, 1990, and – Wizkid achieved international recognition in 2016 following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, ‘One Dance’ as he became the first indigenous Nigerian musician to score a Number 1 hit on the popular U.S singles chart and – Wizkid made history in May 2018 as the first Nigerian artiste to sell out the legendary 02 venue in London, England and – Wizkid again made history in June 2018 when he became the first African artiste to grace the runway for the international fashion brand, Dolce and Gabbana and – Wizkid collaborated with the global fashion brand, Nike on a project whose profits will be used to set schools in every African country, starting with his home country, Nigeria and – Wizkd has won multiple prestigious music awards, including three Billboard music awards and – On Saturday, October 6, 2018, thousands of Minnesotans will gather at Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis to see Wizkid perform, and hopefully, help him make history as the first African artiste to sell out the venue and – Wizkid has inspired Minnesotans and music lovers around the world as one of the biggest culture influencers of our time.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARK DAYTON, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim Saturday, October 6 as WIZKID DAY.”.
