Nigerian filmmaker, Akin Omotoso‘s Vaya is to be submitted as one of the submissions for the foreign-language film category at the 2018 Academy Awards (Oscars).
For the South African film which first screened in Nigeria at 2016 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) and which won multiple awards at the 2017 Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA), this submission is no less than the film deserves.
Vaya follows the story of three strangers, who board the train bound for Johannesburg, each on their own mission, with a simple task to complete and in search of a family to help them.
It features Warren Masemola, Harriet Manamela, Sihle Xaba, among others.
