Popular Nigerian homosexual, Bisi Alimi has dissociated himself from advocating the rights of the Nigerian LGBT community.

Bisi who gained prominence for being the first Nigerian to openly come out of the closet on national television, took to his Facebook page to address the Nigerian LGBT community saying his activism is personal and if they gain from it, fine but he owes them nothing.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) persons in Nigeria face legal sanctions as being gay is an offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Although, there have been moves by the Nigerian LGBT community and foreign gay activists to decriminalize it.
The HIV advocate who had a son with his wife before he fled Nigeria, is currently married to an English man, Anthony Davis and they both reside in the UK.
