Earlier today, our attention was drawn to a tweet by Seyi Oluyole, founder of buzzing kids dance group Dream Catchers wherein she referred to our report on Naomi Campbell’s visit to her residence in Ikorodu as false and fabricated.
Hello fam! Another disclaimer – I don’t know what my name is doing on this article!
I didn’t grant this interview. pic.twitter.com/mLeDEPc5Fq— Seyi Oluyole 👩🏽💻 (@SunkitYole) April 3, 2018
The same claim was repeated on the group’s Instagram page. It was a bewildering turn of events as not only did she speak with this writer, she and her ‘kids’ were in our studio only a fortnight ago. We were excited to tell her story and are proud of the recent coverage they had gotten across world media. After these denials, we called her telephone line- on which we’d conversed only a day prior- and all our calls were unanswered. This left one with no option but to share a two-part audio of the phone call that birthed the piece.

It was rather disheartening that despite what we assumed was a cordial relationship between us, she would flatly issue a false statement the way she did. As a matter of fact, one reached her in order to dispel the rumour that she may have received any financial perks from Ms Campbell.

As explained by Seyi over a phone call with this writer on Monday April 2nd, Campbell’s visit was simply a courteous stop-over and no tangible commitments were made save for a truckload of food items which she proudly displayed on social media pages.
Since I tweeted our audio conversation, she has refrained from making further comments on the matter. However, she has not yet retracted her dubious claims at the time of writing this report.
Thank you @wizkidayo and @djspinall for sharing the stage with my kids @dreamcatchersDA

She has been cheered on by the populace and her kids have since been on stage with Wizkid and DJ Spinall. But her uncharitable attempt to disparage this writer and platform is unwarranted.
Her actions have opened up a valid reason to question Naomi Campbell’s visit. In our conversation, she mentioned that there were no financial gifts from the supermodel- which was what we published. As no plausible reason can be deduced from her head-scratching denial, is it farfetched to imagine that perhaps she wasn’t entirely truthful in her story? What exactly transpired between she and Campbell?
She also claimed that ‘someone was trying to impersonate her and asking people for donations…could it be a case of smoke and mirrors?
These remain to be seen.
