Emeka Mba, the former DG of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) was not tried on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 as planned.
Mba’s trial could not hold because the counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Salisu Majidadi was absent at the trial scheduled for a Federal High Court, Abuja.
Majidadi was not represented either.
Mba, alongside NBC’s Director of Finance and Accounts, Patrick Areh, Basil Udotai and Babatunji Amure, is facing trial on an amended 15-count charge bordering on alleged N2.9 billion fraud.
Emeka Mba’s counsel, Sunday Ameh, expressed surprise at the development.
‘We are surprised they are not in court. We are also not aware of reason of their absence,‘ he said.
The counsels to the other defendants aligned themselves with Ameh’s submission.
