Awards shows are always a fest, and none more so than the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). In anticipation of the Best Dressed Award that will debut at the 7th Edition of the award show next week, we will be looking back at the 7 most iconic looks to ever grace the AMVCA red carpet.
Rita Dominic
No one does the AMVCA red carpet like Rita Dominic, and to show this, she holds 2 spots on our iconic looks list.
In 2017, Rita showed up with a classy champagne gold dress. The dress designed by LANRE DASILVA AJAYI was a structurally magnificent piece. From the sheer cloth draped over a fitted upper bodice, to the multilayered padded curves that flowed to the ground, everything was beautiful. Matching the dress with a gold purse and earrings, Rita turned heads at the event.
Coming back stronger in 2018 with a cobalt blue number by TUBO, her look featured a fitted column skirt and an asymmetric voluminous taffeta bodice with floral detail. Bringing it together with diamond earrings and a shimmery purse, we can attest that there was absolutely nothing wrong with this look.
Mercy Aigbe
Mercy made her debut to the AMVCA red carpet in 2016 and it was nothing short of dazzling. She wore a silver beaded dress with a cape, accessorized with a red purse and red lipstick to match. The dress was made by HOUSE OF LUMINEE. The overall effect had a classic, old Hollywood feel to it. It was the first of many remarkable looks.
Ebuka
Ebuka is known to be a fashion icon and his 2018 AMVCA red carpet look was stunning. Wearing an all white suit by MAI ATAFO, paired with a white shirt and bow tie, Ebuka looked the part of the perfect gentleman.
Denola Grey
If there is anyone, we can trust to never disappoint in terms of trying new things, it’s Denola Grey. For the 2018 red carpet, Denola stepped out in a floral-patterned suit by RHOBES CLOTHING, opting for a black shirt and tie to compliment the dark tones of the suit.
Cee C
It was debated that she was the best dressed female of the 2018 AMVCA, but we will leave that up to you. She wore a LANRE DASILVA AJAYI red dress, detailed with shimmery fabrics and feathered embellishment. Pairing the look with gold accessories, Cee C had never looked more ravishing.
Anto Lecky
She picked BIBI LAWRENCE to dress her for the 2018 AMVCA and it was nothing short of glorious. Her nude blush coloured dress featured a dramatic cape that brings to mind a Grecian toga. It had gold embroidery all over the dress and an embellished belt. She completed the look with a gold box clutch and gold strappy sandals.
Looking back all the appearances leave us with nothing but excitement as we await the 2020 AMVCA.
