The singer has just announced his exit from the Don Jazzy-led label twenty-four hours after celebrating his 25th birthday. “Today, I write in tears, not from a place of pain, but of joy and gratitude… The last five years have been the most blissful years of my career”, he opened with his lengthy Instagram caption that reveals his departure from the label.
Reekado was officially unveiled member of Mavin Records in 2014 alongside Korede Bello and Di’Ja with the label’s joint hit, Dorobucci. The singer has since gone on to release a solid studio album, Spotlight and a plethora of hit records that have earned him a spot on the table of African pop heavyweights.
It is unknown if the singer left the label on good terms as Don Jazzy at the time of this report is yet to speak to his exit. Reekado Banks would be the second officially signed artiste to leave Mavin Records. Wande Coal who was a pioneering member of the label departed in 2013 after differences led to an internal dispute. Left on the label’s roaster are; Tiwa Savage, Korede Bello, Johnny Drille, Poe, DNA Twins and Di’Ja.
