Weinstein's wife has also stated she would be leaving him in light of the accusations.
Oscar award-winning film producer, Harvey Weinstein, has been accused of sexually assaulting a number of women, most of whom are actresses. The list just got longer and more important as A-list actresses, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, have also come out as victims of the executive.
This news comes moments after Weinstein’s wife, Georgia Chapman, made it known that she is leaving him.
Both Jolie and Paltrow, in an interview, made it known that they were harassed by the film producer when they first entered Hollywood. Why are they now coming out with their stories? Angelina and Gwyneth feel that by sharing their stories, they would make the other victims feel less lonely.
Jolie said, ‘I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did. This behavior towards women in any field, any country is unacceptable.’
According to Gwyneth, who confided in her boyfriend at the time, Brad Pitt, about the assault, ‘We’re at a point in time when women need to send a clear message that this is over. This way of treating women ends now.’
Harvey’s ex-wife-to-be and mother of two of his children, Chapman, has come out to show solidarity for the women who have been assaulted by her soon-to-be ex-husband. ‘My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions.’
Weinstein was fired from his own film company, The Weinstein Company, in lieu of all the outrage following his numerous allegations.
