Singer, Chidinma and comedian, AY were missing on the first NECLive5 panel moderated by Mike Effiong, Editor of Ovation International.

The panel, titled ‘Is It Really Africa’s Time’, also had comedian, Frank Donga, Kwese Sports GM Chichi Nwoko and Ade Bantu, founder of Afropolitan Vibes.

Check out some of the key excerpts from their session.

Ade Bantu

‘African entertainers should focus on expanding within Africa and not continually look to the west for validation.

We must create solid infrastructure to foster the growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

I think ‘Afrobeats’ is the most insulting terminology ever invented. Nigerian pop music is not ‘Afrobeats.’

Frank Donga

‘The future of entertainment in Nigeria and Africa is bright but there is very little that can be done without power/electricity. Fix the power then we can figure out the rest by ourselves

The pervasiveness of technology will drive the growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry like never before.’

Chichi Nwoko

‘Social media has played a vital role in shining the spotlight on Nigerian entertainment.’
