Felabration 2016 is already in full swing and more gloss is being added to the annual event which is in honour of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Biyi Bandele, a seasoned director who directed the movie adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie‘s Half of a Yellow Sun, intends to add colour to this year’s Felabration with a selection of memorable photos taken over the past 25 years.
Breathtaking and iconic images, like when Fela performed at Lekki Sunsplah concert in 1991 – with eight-year-old Seun Kuti opening for him, will all be on display at Thursday’s exhibition.
The exhibition will also showcase many artists whose music and vision have been inspired by Abami Eda, such as Tony Allen, reggae star Alpha Blondy, and other African greats.
The one-of-a-kind exhibition, tagged Rebel-Griots, Restless Maestros, and Blazing-Rockstars will take place at Art Clip’s gallery space at Radisson Blu Anchorage hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
