When the news of ace producer, Babatunde Okungbowa better known as OJB Jezreel being down with kidney failure broke out in social media, many of his fans were baffled.

Soon from one blog and website to another, the news went viral with many bombarding the producer’s phone number (which was unfortunately switched off) with calls and his twitter page with messages from well wishers.

The report stated that the multi award-winning producer was ‘diagnosed of a kidney problem and has been and is in a dire need of kidneys transplant if he is to survive’. The report also stated that the producer has been admitted in a hospital somewhere in Ikotun area of Lagos.

As a result, NET reporters decided to investigate the authenticity of the report, being that no friend and ally of the producer had come out to confirm or deny the report.

Singer and show promoter, Nomoreloss, a familiar a close associate of the producer who claims to have been amazed by the recent news, told NET in a telephone conversation that OJB is well and in good condition.

‘It is true that he had some health complications earlier, but that was months ago and he’s been better ever since. I don’t know where this report is coming from all of a sudden for something that had happened long ago’, he said

‘He’s been out of the hospital and he only goes in for regular check-ups’, Nomoreloss said.

At our reporter’s arrival at No. 4, Gbaja Street, Surulere residence and studio of the producer, we were told that he was not home at the moment, but rapper/actor, Kunle Fawole, aka Abounce who is a close friend of OJB simply denied the report as he said, ‘Seriously, there’s nothing wrong with OJB, he is well and we were together yesterday. The news is totally false and misleading’.

When contacted, OJB’s manager, Taiye Aliu also denied the report, while insisting that ‘OJB only went for a check up and he is okay. His family is okay and he also doesn’t have problems with his finances’.

When confronted with the alleged account that was reported to have been opened in the producers stead to raise money for his operation, Aliu said, ‘That account is fraudulent, we have not asked for help from the public. If we want to do so, we will issue a release to that effect’

Rapper, Ruggedman, who had in the past benefited from OJB’s immense talent also spoke to NET reporter, but he claims not to be aware of any kidney issues the producer might be having.

‘I’m not really sure what it was for then, but he was in the hospital for a while, and that was about 5months ago. Right now, he is fine as at the last time I saw him. The report that has recently gone round about him having kidney problems, to the best of my knowledge is all false’.

There also seems to be so many inconsistencies in their denials and from the looks of it, it is either OJB’s friends are not much updated on the recent happenings or do not want the public to have full knowledge of OJB’s condition.

On his twitter handle @ojbjiggaman, the producer recently tweeted,’Keep me in prayers. All is well’, which is enough proof that something is certainly wrong somewhere and the producer isn’t as perfectly well as his friends claim.

He has not responded to NET enquiries.

OJB Jezreel who has three wives is a renowned producer, writer, singer and song composer famous for working with the likes of Sound Sultan, Remedies, Azadus, Ruggedman and most prominently 2face’s multi-platinum debut album ‘Grass To Grace’, which included the monster single ‘African Queen’.
