The 3rd edition of the annual Lagos Carnival went down on Easter Monday, April 9, 2012 amidst lots of fun and excitement, as Lagosians took to the streets in glowing colours.
The carnival kicked off at 8AM, following the arrival of the participants at the Army Barracks, Falomo. At exactly 11:15AM, the train kicked off and the participants, decked out in colourful costumes, danced all the way from Awolowo road to Campos Square, ending at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
The Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, along with other top government officials, welcomed the bands as they displayed their final stunts before dispersing. Also in attendance was pop artiste Wizkid, who sang, to the delight of all present.
In a chat with one of the participants, Ms Dotun Olajiga, she expressed her appreciation for the organisation of the carnival, which she said was fun and relaxing. ‘I really enjoyed myself and I hope my band wins again as we won the previous two editions’ she concluded.Follow @thenetng //
